If you’re using GoHighLevel or thinking about signing up, you’re going to need an email delivery tool to send bulk emails to your clients.

That’s where a tool like Mailgun comes in.

Mailgun is probably the easiest, most popular SMTP option and a great starting point. It’s also affordable - with a 30-day free trial that has you covered for up to 5,000 emails per month.

In this article, we will walk you through the step-by-step process of setting up Mailgun with GoHighLevel.

GoHighLevel Mailgun Integration

HighLevel is not an SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) which means it can’t deliver bulk emails. But you can easily link GHL with an SMTP like Mailgun to cover that functionality.

What is Mailgun?

Mailgun is an email delivery service that offers an email API and powerful features to businesses looking to send bulk emails, receive, and track their email campaigns.

Step 2: Verify Your Email Address

Check your email inbox for the verification email from Mailgun. Click on the verification link to verify your email address.

Step 3: Add Your Domain to Mailgun

After verifying your email address, log in to your Mailgun account and click on the "Sending" tab.

Next, click on "Add New Domain" and enter your domain name. You can either set up your main domain or a subdomain with Mailgun.

For the main domain, make sure it is not being used with G Suite or any other email provider before setting it up. Let’s say your domain name is "company.com". To set up a subdomain, you can type any word before the domain name such as "mail.company.com," "reply.company.com" or "support.company.com."

Plus, ensure you set up your domain or subdomain under the US (not EU). When you’re done, click "Add domain."

Step 4: Add DNS Records to Your Domain

Now, it's time to log in to your DNS records based on where you bought your domain from and add the five DNS records provided by Mailgun.

If you are not sure where to add the DNS records, follow these steps:

  • Look up the domain you want to set up on MXTOOLBOX. Enter your domain name only in the lookup box (without "http://" or ‘https://” at the beginning).
  • After looking up the domain name, the tool will reveal your DNS hosting provider. Check the bottom note to find it.
  • Log in on the website of your provider and go to the DNS records area.
  • Once you find the DNS records area, add the five DNS records provided by Mailgun.

Step 5: Find and Add the Mailgun API Key To GoHighLevel

After adding the DNS records, verify that everything is set up correctly and grab the Mailgun API Key. To find the API key, log in to your Mailgun account and click on the "API Keys" tab. Copy the API key provided.

Next, go to your GoHighLevel account and click on the "Settings" tab. Select "Email Services" and click "Add Service." Choose "Mailgun" from the list of integrations and paste the API key into the "API Key" field.
