Dex Screener Review - Summary
In our Dex Screener review, we found that overall Dex Screener is one of the best crypto screeners out there for exploring decentralized exchanges: The platform is free to use and provides access to more blockchains than any other screener, making it a valuable resource for both beginner and experienced investors.
While the tool lacks some features that would be useful for more advanced traders, overall we were very impressed with Dex Screener and would recommend it to anyone interested in exploring the wild world of decentralized exchanges.

Dex Screener is a powerful and free cryptocurrency analysis and screening tool that allows crypto investors to analyze assets across multiple decentralized exchanges (DEXs) and networks such as Ethereum, BSC, Polygon, Avalanche, Fantom, Harmony, and more.

Some highlights of Dex Screener include:
Insane selection: More coins, blockchains, and Dex's to explore than any other crypto screener (there are 43+ blockchains with over 1200 coins available and thousands of token pairs)
Easy DEX analysis: allows you to filter crypto assets by decentralized exchange, network/chain, liquidity, FDV, price, market capitalization, volume, transactions, and price changes. You can research digital assets on dozens of EVM-compatible chains like Ethereum and Polygon, save them in personalized lists, and even set custom alerts all for free.
Free charting and technical analysis: gives you access to charts and indicators that can help you identify trends and make better investment decisions.
DEX and DeFi data: you get tons of publicly available data on a tokens contract and pool data for token pairs.
Pros and Cons
What is a Crypto Screener?
A cryptocurrency screener is a tool that scans and analyzes publicly available data on crypto tokens and blockchains. With a screener, you can quickly and easily sort through dozens or hundreds of crypto tokens and assets to find new opportunities.
How do crypto screeners work?
Typically screeners scrape and aggregate publicly available information on digital assets via blockchain explorers, publicly available code, liquidity pools, company websites, and blockchains to put together enough information to be useful for their end users.

Some of the key features of Dex Screener include:
Dex Screener offers users the ability to view emerging trends. This includes both price and volume data and can help you identify trending pairs and tokens with recent large prices.
Dex Screener also offers a dex index, which is a list of all the top traded dex pairs. This can help you identify new trading opportunities, as well as keep track of the overall dex market.
The Dex Screener Trade Explorer allows you to view all the recent trades that have taken place on dexes. This can help identify patterns and opportunities.
The watchlist feature allows you to track your favorite dex pairs and tokens. This can help you stay up to date and organized on tickers you are interested in.
DEXScreemer also offers users alerts for free. This can help keep track of price movements or volume changes on certain pairs. You can set alerts on price movement for any pair.
Dex Screener also offers Multicharts, which is a tool that allows you to add multiple charts to one screen. Basically, you can create a custom dashboard. This can help you compare price movements and identify patterns on cryptos you're interested in.
They also offer a new pairs tool, which allows you to find new token pairs that have been recently added to the platform. This can help you find a brand new token that's just been launched on a DEX. Be careful, though - these can be incredibly risky.
Gainers and Losers:
There's also a list of both the top gainers and losers. This can help you identify which tokens are currently on the rise, or falling.
For each pair, Dex Screener offers charts by TradingView, which can help you visualize price movements and identify patterns. You can toggle between candlestick charts or line charts, identify trends, and use all the technical indicators and chart tools offered by TradingView.
From the chart screen, you can:
- View the order book and trading volume
- View information on recent trades (date, type, USD price, transaction, and contract number)
- View pool and trading data (liquidity, FDV, market cap, buys, sells, trading volume, transaction volume, etc)
- See price trends in USD across multiple time frames
- Add the pair to a watchlist
- Set price alerts
- View all contracts for the pairs
- Get company information (website, Telegram, Twitter, etc.), scan on Token Sniffer, search Google, Twitter

How to trade on Dex Screener:
Dex Screener itself merely aggregates token data and price data from decentralized exchanges. The actual trading takes place on the DEX.
Decentralized Exchanges (DEXs) operate a little differently from Centralized Exchanges (CEX), which are owned and operated by a corporation. DEXs are typically automated market makers, meaning they are programmatically managing and settling buy and sell orders from anonymous traders all over the world. The DEX is settling transactions automatically via a liquidity pool and isn't being managed by human operators.
If you want to start investing in cryptocurrencies you find on Dex Screener, you’ll first need to purchase some crypto, send it to your wallet on the correct blockchain, and login to the DEX where your desired coin is trading.
Here's the step by step:
Step 1 - Get a wallet
You'll need a wallet capable of storing the cryptocurrency you want to buy. The most common hot wallet for Ethereum-based chains is MetaMask, but there are plenty of others. You can also use a cold-storage wallet like a Ledger or Trezor. Make sure to backup your personal seed phrase and store your password offline for security purposes.
Remember: if you lose your backup seed phrase, your crypto is gone.
Step 2 - Fund your wallet
Purchase crypto from a CEX like Gate.io, KuCoin, or Coinbase. Then send it to your wallet. You may have to wait a little while for the funds to appear. If you don't see it in your wallet right away, use a chain explorer like etherscan.io to check your wallet balance and verify that your funds have arrived.
Step 3 - Connect To The Dex
Next you need to connect your wallet to the DEX. You do that through a series of approvals in your wallet. Locate the "Connect Wallet" button and follow the prompts until you are connected. Warning: Make 100% sure you trust the DEX you are connecting to.
Step 4 - Make a Swap and start trading
Now you just need to start trading (or swapping) as it's called. A swap is an automatic trade that takes place in the liquidity pool. In the example below, we're swapping 1 ETH for 16.6 AAVE tokens.
We recommend KuCoin, Gate.io, and ByBit for the largest selection of altcoins, however, if you’re US-based, you might want to try FTX.us.
